About Me

Welcome to my humble site!

My name is Nicole. I'm a Psychology, Communication and International Studies major at Saint Louis University in (you guessed it...) Saint Louis, Missouri. I'm also studying Spanish (which is my minor) and German.

I have a fantastic job at St. Louis Language Immersion Schools as their Communications Intern. My responsibilities include (but are definitely not limited to) directing all social media for the school, including Facebook, blog, Twitter and some website material, along with creating quarterly newsletters and helping out in any way I can.

Through my academic and internship experiences, I have studied about and witnessed the profound effects of mass communication and its astounding evolution. Daily, I benefit from all of the various types of media-- books, music, newspapers, the Internet, social media, etc. The ironic part is that I would consider myself a minimal media user for my personal use, not including my job duties. Although I use media less than my peers on average, it's unavoidable in my academic, urban, relatively priviledged environment.

Going to West Virginia on my mission trip and seeing the way the 300-odd people in Kermit live their lives without all of the media we have in Saint Louis forced me to experience life without all of its 'media amenities'. It made an impression on me, and that is what this website is all about.
